NFL Takes, TooAthletic Takes

Is Antonio Brown to the Patriots really going to work?  I know, it sounds silly to wonder if AB going to the best team in the league will be successful, but lets really dig deeper here. Into the Patriots’ organization and into Antonio Brown.

The Patriots have made successful attempts at taking in problematic players in the past but Bill may have bitten off more than he can chew with this one.  First of all, anyone who is expecting Antonio Brown to come in first week and have an immediate impact, and learn the playbook just doesn’t have a full understanding of how football works. This is a very in depth and complex offense for AB to learn, and he is going to have to be okay with the fact that he is almost certainly going to get a decrease in production. You think AB is really going to be okay with the fact that he may only get 60-80 catches this year?  You REALLY think Bill is going to put up with Antonio Brown throwing coolers and temper tantrums on the sideline because he isn’t getting the ball enough like he did with the Steelers?  No talent is going to get away with that on the Patriots team.

After what we have seen from his personality and his undying need to be selfish, I don’t see how you could actually believe that he will be okay with everything not being about him.  This is Tom’s team and AB or anyone else is not going to change that.

The Patriots do not need AB and it’s going to be an adjustment period while he tries to understand that.  Let’s assume that it does work on the field.  Let’s assume that AB gets the offense down pat (no pun intended) and he is getting the production that he desires.  Okay great, then there’s the off-field stuff. As of this moment, he may never see the field again if these rape allegations are true, so stay tuned for that.

However, that huge wrinkle in the story there’s still the fact that he acts like an idiot off the field and that is just one more thing that the Patriots are not going to be okay with.  I’m personally over AB and I’m ready for all of this to be over with.  It will be interesting to see where he goes after New England because this experiment is not going to work.
